The parts that
keep it working.

The consumable side of containment is unglamorous and it is where compliance quietly erodes. When the mounting strips run out, someone reaches for duct tape. When the fasteners fail, a panel corner comes loose and the containment starts leaking at exactly the place nobody is looking. Keeping fasteners, refills, and accessories in stock is a small line item that protects everything else on the project.

Specifying This Category

What to check before you buy.

Guidance from the Oncore consultants who write these permits and inspect the barriers that come out of them.

Ask a Consultant
  1. 01

Order refills on the same cycle as the work, not when they run out. The adhesive mounting components are consumed fastest, and a stockout is what drives crews to improvise a seal.

  2. 02

Standardize the attachment system across the facility. Mixing incompatible fastener systems between phases means the reusable components stop being reusable, which erases the reason they were specified.

  3. 03

Keep fastener tabs for irregular conditions. Corridors, curved walls, and casework rarely accept a continuous strip cleanly, and spot attachment is what closes those gaps properly.

  4. 04

Inspect attachment points, not just panels, during barrier rounds. A barrier that is intact in the middle and lifting at the edges reads as compliant from ten feet away and is not.

Where This Fits

The classes this category serves.

I

Class I

Inspection and non-invasive work. Ceiling tile removal for visual inspection, painting without sanding, minor electrical or trim work.

Minimal dust is expected, so the emphasis is on immediate cleanup and keeping ceiling tiles out of the space any longer than the task requires. Most Class I work needs no barrier at all.

II

Class II

Small-scale, short-duration work that creates minimal dust. Cutting access panels, accessing chase spaces, sanding or patching a small wall area.

Dust control measures, HEPA vacuuming as the work proceeds, sealing unused doors and air vents, and containing debris before it leaves the space. Soft containment and entry control are usually enough.

III

Class III

Work that generates moderate to high dust levels, or that requires removing a fixed building component such as a wall, ductwork, or casework.

Critical barriers that fully seal the work area, negative air pressure maintained with HEPA filtration, and every penetration sealed. Pressure has to be verified, not assumed.
